PROFILE TIPS
Writing a profile that speaks volumes of who you are and one that says just the right things doesn’t have to be as daunting as some may think. Yes, your profile is your first line of communication with any future meeting, so getting it correct, accurate and honest is really the objective when it comes to posting and maintaining your profile.
Here are some general ideas and tips that may help you with your profile;
- Don't panic, it's a profile and shouldn't be your life story,
- Keep it light and friendly and avoid anything negative or derogatory,
- Never include your personally identifiable information,
- Post some photos to your profile - they generally get a better response
- Be honest on your profile, just as you look for rightful honesty in other people,
- Don't set out to be perfect in your profile,
- Only be as detailed in your profile as you need to be, and maybe leave the rest for something to talk about during lunch or over a coffee,
- Don't big-note yourself and try to be something you're not,
- Use a spell check,
- Be positive, upbeat and optimistic about life and the future,
- Be specific about your likes, dislikes, passions and interests, detailing maybe the reasons why, how or where,
- Describe exactly what it is you're looking for, but be reasonable in doing so as you can't realistically expect somebody to match every criteria,
- Try and be creative in the way you express things so as maybe not to appear and sound like others,
- Don't define yourself by what you don't want,
- What do your friends say about you without blowing your own trumpet.
